Fa Jin – Explosive Energy, Dim Mak & Internal Strikes

What is Fa Jin?

Have you ever watched a Chinese martial arts demonstration and been astounded or astonished by seeing a small man use a touch to effortlessly toss a large man across the room with seemingly little or no effort?

What most people do not realize is that the ability that they have just witnessed is known as Fa Jin which translates into English as explosive force.

Most Chinese internal arts have one or more versions of Fa Jin and Tai Chi Fa Jin training is a body of study within Tai Chi.

Basic Fa Jin issuing of power or energy requires proper mechanical and physical principles to work.

This includes but is not limited to a very proper connected alignment through the body of the practitioner.

Proper alignment begins with the Wu Chi standing posture and continues to be practiced when the Tai Chi practitioner performs the Tai Chi moves.

If there is a break in the physical or energetic structure of the Tai Chi practitioner then it is highly unlikely that Fa Jin can be issued.

The Fa Jin practitioner also needs to have some understanding of alignment and structure in others to be able to find and affect their center of gravity.

This involves being able to feel and ideally see the other person’s structure, alignment and weight distribution in order to affect it.

If the Fa Jin practitioner is more advanced then they are able to do less physical movement and yet still obtain an explosive result against someone who is in a stronger position.

The most impressive, and of course famous Fa Jin demonstrations are when a Fa Jin practitioner barely moves or doesn’t physically move at all and the surprised recipient is suddenly bounced several feet up into the air or thrown at least 6 feet or more away.

Of course when Fa Jin is performed by an advanced practitioner the explosive energy transfer can be directed so that the result is much less dramatic to watch but much more serious to the person receiving the energy.

Outwardly it appears like much less but the recipient feels it much much more.

If the energy is directed into the insides of the person being struck or into one of their internal organs then the results can be devastating.

This, of course, is a high level internal strike which is a Dim Mak application of Fa Jin.

But you can learn the basics here:

Fa Jin For Healing?

Fajin strikes can be directed and can be used to impart a strike.

Fajin can also be used to remove the energy that has been received from a strike.

The healing aspects of issuing this kind of energy have not very often been demonstrated or seen and are relatively unknown.

In some of our Clear’s Tai Chi Fajin video clips we are showing the energy being put into the person and we are showing the fix or healing aspect of the energy being taken out.

When demonstrating live I have found that I get the most reaction and a lot of requests from folks to personally experience this energy, being put in and then taken out, for themselves.

We do understand that it can be quite hard to believe how much force can be imparted with such a light strike until you have felt it for yourself.

For both directing the energy of a strike and removing the energy of a strike there are at least several other energetics and jins that must be studied.

These include but are not limited to Sung (Relaxation), Peng, Rooting, Ting Jin (listening), sensitivity, Jian Si Jin (Silk Reeling), Condensing, Compressing, Coiling, and Springy energies.

Each one of these energetics will add more juice and pop to the Fajin for less and less physically visible effort on the part of the practitioner.

Also, as these principles and energetics are truly understood, combined and applied it will take less and less physical effort for the practitioner to Fajin.

If you’d like to learn these skills- The Practical Guide to Internal Power will show you the actual mechanics of how this all works.

Each week, you’ll get different skills, and how to train them-

And if you stick to it, by the time I show you how to use Fa Jin, it will all make sense.
